In my experience most vegetarians, and especially vegans, are petty and annoying people caught up in their own self-righteousness and nothing seems to be good enough for them and even people who try to do good are never good enough… Oh, you're not a real vegetarian… Oh, so you eat fish? Oh, you are fishing? Oh, you bought a leather purse? Oh, you stomped on some plants while in the forest? Oh, you don't donate half your salary every month to animal shelters? Oh, look at these cruel pictures of animal abuse! Oh, you use the red paint and not green?
It's fanatics and sadly Chloë is already showing some of the signs by constant liking and reposting that animal twitter account and trying to push bad feelings onto others.
Maybe next she'll start to post pictures of homeless people or abused women caught up in human trafficing next so we can also feel bad about those.
Like those emotinal facebook posts ever did anything other than to make a lot of people feel bad or generate likes for whoever posts them to boost their self-righteous egos.
Go donate money to your cause if you like. Donate double! Put pressure on the people who can do something about it instead of mr and miss casual on the Internet. Or stop supporting those coorporations dealing with animal cruelty or child labor or whatever you feel against (though we know most people are all talk untill prices suddenly rise because now there can only be 500 pigs in a small cage and not 1000 or whatever - then people forget quickly again)
Maybe I'm just old and no longer have the same naivity in changing people like teens and young people do, but I've damn near seen and lived through all of this shit over and over again for decades and rarely have I seen any big changes other than when goverments forces new rules. People don't change like that. Sure, they all say "Ohhh, that so sad… Look at that poor pig… But the next morning they'll still eat their bacon on eggs and then bitch about the increase in bacon prices due to new rules"
But I don't mind Chloë supporting all of this or trying to save the polar bears or whatever phase she's going through. It's all from her good heart, I know. I just don't like her trying to force feed me bad feelings over and over again. Make your point and views visible, but don't become some advertisement propaganda machine for your own self-righteous ego. That's what will turn people away in the long run because no one wants to listen to the lunatics preaching - no matter how right they might be.
